Limnophila fragrans, commonly known as the Fragrant Marshweed, is an uncommon aquatic plant native to Australia. As the smallest native Limnophila species, it exhibits unique characteristics that make it a noteworthy addition to the aquarium.

This species is distinguished by its diminutive size, with leaves growing to approximately one-third the size of its close relative, Limnophila aromatica. While sharing the serrated leaf structure with L. aromatica, Fragrant Marshweed's serrations are less pronounced when submerged. Its tropical origins make it well-suited for aquariums with temperatures above 24 degrees Celsius.

Unlike the more common 'fluffy' Limnophila varieties, Limnophila fragrans can be more challenging to grow. It thrives in soft water conditions and demands higher lighting levels. The effort however is rewarded with a captivating plant that complements other species, such as Eriocaulon.

The growth pattern of Limnophila fragrans is relatively slow, allowing for good control of its height and bushiness through regular trimming. This characteristic makes it an ideal choice for foreground or midground placement within the aquarium, contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal of the tank.

In addition to its unique appearance, Limnophila fragrans is also one of the most fragrant Limnophila species, with its emersed leaves having a eucalyptus menthol scent.
