This plant features mostly dark red to brown, mottled young leaves which boldly stand out in the aquarium. These become greener with less blotching as the leaves mature.

The Green Flame Sword is a relatively easy plant to care for, making it an excellent choice for both experienced and beginner aquarists. It can thrive in a variety of conditions, including low to high light. In addition to its striking appearance and ease of care, the Green Flame Sword is also beneficial for maintaining the water quality in your aquarium. Like other Aquarius species, it can absorb excess nutrients from the water and oxygenate the tank. This helps to keep the water clean and clear, creating a healthy and comfortable environment for fish and other aquatic life.

When planting the Green Flame Sword, it is important to consider its size and growth habit. The plant can grow fairly large, so it is recommended to plant it in the background of a smaller aquarium or in the midground of a larger tank. Additionally, providing adequate nutrition in the form of root tabs or liquid fertilizers can help promote healthy growth and strong colouration.
