Hygrophila lancea, also known as Hygrophila 'Araguaia', is a slender and low growing plant that adds a splash of colour to the aquarium. It is a compact and creeping Hygrophila that grows as a bushy foreground plant. Although it is a relatively slow grower, it requires brighter lighting than most other Hygrophila species to maintain its reddish-brown to purple colouration.

The long, thin leaves grow horizontally, pointing out across the substrate, creating an eye-catching effect. This plant prefers moderate to high light levels and benefits from CO2 injection. It is also a heavy feeder and requires regular fertilisation to thrive.

With its unique appearance and low growing nature, Hygrophila lancea is a great addition to many aquascaped. Its distinctive colouration and compact size make it an ideal choice for creating contrast in the foreground of an aquarium.
