Nymphoides exiliflora, the Wallum Fringe, is an uncommon native Australian plant that makes a great addition to the foreground or midground of the aquarium. This rosette plant is a great choice for those looking for an alternative to more commonly available aquatic plants. With its small heart-shaped leaves on long petioles, it creates an interesting display in any aquascape.

This is quite a unique species which is generally stable in its underwater form, and doesn't often attempt to produce floating leaves. If grown in shallow water it will grow towards the surface of the water to produce beautiful fringed, yellow flowers and small floating leaves, adding an extra element to the aquarium or pond.. This species has longer stems and smaller leaves than Nymphoides indica, another popular native Nymphoides species. N. exiliflora is also very different in that it can grow in a creeping manner across the substrate, both by its rhizome and flower stalks.

Nymphoides exiliflora is moderately demanding, requiring medium light and a nutrient-rich substrate. It looks best in the foreground of the aquarium, and appreciates softer water with a slightly acidic pH. CO2 is highly recommended for wider, more vibrant green leaves.

This species is an excellent choice for those looking for a unique and visually appealing aquatic plant. Its small form and heart shaped leaves make it an attractive native species for any aquarium or pond.
