Lobelia quadrangularis is a rare, delicate aquatic stem plant that is native to Australia. It features bright green, serrated leaves that grow in two rows along the stem, giving it a distinctive appearance.

Sawtooth Lobelia is a relatively easy plant to care for, but does require medium lighting. It generally has an upright growth form in moderate light conditions. The emersed form is creeping with zig-zag stems, and looks fantastic in paludariums where it can grow into the water. This versatility makes it a unique choice for aquascapes of all kinds.

With its small leaves and a moderate growth rate, it works best as a midground or foreground plant, especially for biotopes and native aquariums. Like many stem plants, Sawtooth Lobelia prefers nutrient-rich substrates and can benefit from regular fertilisation and additional CO2. It does well in a range of water conditions, but tends to grow much faster in softer water between 0-7 dKH, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.

Lobelia quadrangularis makes for an unique plant that can add an interesting look to the midground or foreground of your aquarium. Whether you're an experienced aquascaper or a beginner looking to try a new, rare plant, this Australian native is definitely worth considering.
