Rotala wallichii, commonly known as Whorly Rotala, is a stunning, delicate stem plant with fine, needle-like leaves. This plant is popular for its beautiful colouration in good conditions, growing in shades of pink to orange. The plant grows directly upwards without branching and has a very fluffy-looking appearance.

A fairly demanding plant, Rotala wallichii requires high light and CO2 supplementation to grow well. When grown under optimal conditions, the plant will exhibit a beautiful orange, red to hot pink colouration - depending on water parameters and nutrient levels. The crown of the stem always has the most vibrant colouration. It prefers soft slightly acidic water of 0-12°dKH and a pH of 5.0-7.0. This plant can be used as an accent plant in the midground to add a pop of colour to an aquascape or to create a lush, feathery background.

Rotala wallichii is a moderately fast-growing plant when grown at around 25°C, though it grow in temperatures between 15-30°C. While this plant may be more demanding than other options, the end result is well worth the effort. With the right care and conditions, this stunning fluffy-looking stem plant is sure to be a standout feature in any high-tech aquascape
