Murdannia keisak is a very uncommon aquatic plant that has a grassy appearance underwater, with upright stems and alternating spiky leaves. This unique appearance is good for adding a bamboo-like look to your aquascape.

The thin, narrow leaves of Murdannia keisak are a light green colour, and under high light, they can develop pink or purple tinges, adding some colour to the upper leaf surfaces. To keep this plant thriving, it requires medium to high light and a pH range of 5 to 7. It grows best in water temperatures between 18 to 30°C and with a carbonate hardness in the range of 0 to 14°dKH.

A member of the Commelinaceae family, Murdannia keisak shares similar growth requirements with other aquatic plants in this group. It will do best in nutrient-rich substrates, and when supplemented with CO2 injection to promote healthy growth. It is a moderately fast-growing plant in good conditions. Propagation is best done by stem cuttings as this plant does not branch readily.

Murdannia keisak is an excellent choice for aquarists looking to add a unique and uncommon plant to their aquarium. Its bamboo-like appearance and upright growth makes it a standout addition to any high-tech aquascape.
